Kari Harper is the program manager of the Acoustical Testing Services Laboratory Accreditation Program (LAP) and one of the program managers for the Calibration LAP of the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP). In this capacity, she oversees the accreditations to ISO/IEC 17025 of laboratories across the U.S. and around the world. She also serves as both a lead and technical assessor, participates in standards development organizations, and gives training on accreditation-related topics.
Kari has been with NIST since 1988. Prior positions and duties at NIST include bench metrologist in the area of vibration, research engineer in machine tool metrology, a detail in the NIST Director’s Program Office, service on two Advanced Technology Program Source Evaluation Boards, service as Acting NIST Quality Manager, a detail to the NIST United States Measurement System (USMS) Assessment Committee and Report Editorial Board, and service on the Assessment Review Board of the NIST Quality System.
Kari is a mechanical engineer, receiving an undergraduate degree from Drexel University and a Master’s degree from the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland.
